Poor poor Beamer

Friday the 14th of September is a day of infamy!   We were stopped at a stop light about 6 cars back at 3:59pm.  I heard the screech of tires and looked in the rear view mirror to see a woman in a black jeep screeching to a halt and turning to the right to try to miss us.  She made the stop and then the panel truck just behind her came on both of us at about 45 mph and hit her full force which caused her to hit our right rear and then she bounced into and across 3 lanes of very heavy drive time traffic.  She made it with out being hit or hitting anyone else.   A tender mercy for her because the traffic had been and would be again bumper to bumper.  She drove into a fast food parking lot and parked got out of the car and was pretty upset, in fact an ambulance came and took her away.  We forgot to take pictures of her car but it was smashed both left front and back pretty bad.  The police just moved it to a less prominent parking place and I suspect that someone went to the police station for the keyes and went and picked up the car.

So unfortunately we will be with out our wonderful ride for about a week, starting the 8th of Oct.

We did go to the BMW dealer and asked who they recommended and the shop is on the list of the Insurance company for the plumbing company who owned the truck.  They have been pretty good about accepting blame and so far have been good to deal with.
They censor on the bumper on the right side just goes off continuously if the car is in reverse, even though there is nothing within 12 inches.  Also the lift gate does not alway shut from the electronic button and that never happened before the wreck but it won't happen when we have  it in to the shop or the appraiser is here.  Intermittent problems are the worst.  Better than physical injuries though.  The woman in the jeep really was the one who took the brunt of the crash.

And this is the truck that caused the whole problem.  I felt sorry for this guy because I worry that he may have lost his job over this incident.  He was cited for reckless driving so it is a pretty bad charge.  His was the only vehicle that had to be towed away.

We are perfectly fine and only feel lucky to be so blessed and protected.   Hopefully this "luxury car" repair shop will send it back in great condition.
