Big World, Small Church-Day 3

Well, I promised pictures and so you now get pictures.  We still don't have everybody we want to but we did get a few, so here goes.

Dad says 50 bonus points to who ever can figure out which apostle is missing.  I got lucky and named it right off.

Here we are with our "district" from right to left seated. Sister Heath, Sister Howell, Elder & Sister Frolich.  The couple on the right is Elder & Sister West.  Couple on the left ?

Sister Heath; from North Carolina small town near Raleigh.  Destination; up till yesterday at noon Santa Rosa CA, assignment; Welfare/Employment.  At noon yesterday 'they" came and got them out of lunch, which is a trick in itself, and told them their assignment had changed but they wouldn't be told until Thursday.  So tomorrow is the day!   She has 5 children I think all are active.  Her son came to her after her farewell and said, "Mama, those are my scriptures now."  She replied, "No you can't take my scriptures." and he replied that "All missionaries should have a new set of scripture."  "Well, Sis (her sister) tells me there will be a new version in November."  "Well, then expect a box in Nov with a return box for your old ones."  Cute!  First name; Mary Lou (definitely old south)

Sister Howell:  Mildred better known as Milly (old south and the accent to prove it).  From Booneville, MS.  5 children (3boys).  These two ladies didn't know each other when they got their calls.  They emailed and talked on the phone but that was the only contact until they met here at the MTC.  Now they have their bags packed and have no idea where they are going.  They do have another week here at the MTC for training in Welfare/Employment.
These two women know how to love.  They love each other, they are so kind to each other.  They exude it to the rest of us and they shower their investigators with it.  They are amazing!

Frolich; This is the couple going to the new Utah, SL Central Mission.  Cute, cute.  7 Bio children, 1 adopted, 4 Indian placement children.  I would think you would be too worn out for 14 years of missionary service.

West's: He is the DL.  They are from a small town near Snowflake AZ (as if Snowflake is large).  It is so small their son was their bishop.  Think about that one!  They and dad hit it off after they found out that he was a Ped-Cardiologist because their son (34 yrs old now) had a congenital heart defect.  So they have discussed that episode in their life and reported on his outcome.

Sister Anderson, our teacher.  Former missionary in the Czech Republic.  She is from Kaysville and a friend of Dan Newbold.  She is studying to be a public health nurse.  She got the inevitable question from the Wests and kind of blushed and stuttered.  Yes, there is someone but he has gone to England for the summer and now I think I am interested in someone who is nearer.  So what are my true feelings?   Ah, youth!
Elder and Sister Turner from Baton Rouge, LA headed to Tucson (I think), AZ
Elder and Sister Wallace from Layton. Headed to Vanatu (?) He was an engineer for Davis County and she is a nurse so this is a medical mission.  The other two were proselyting.  I didn't think that seniors did that any more.
Brent & Joan Heaps, he is the insurance person we have known since 1st opening the office.  They are headed to Madagascar Mission but to Reunion Island and another smaller island a short distance away.  Madagascar is a 3rd world country but these two islands are European tourist destinations so they are swank places, 1st world amenities.  He said, " We will not be roughing it."
The Eggett's across the street neighbors of Nick and Penny Rose.  So. Africa, Johannesburg as country coordinators for Humanitarian Services.
The Kinney's, Pat's 1st patient. They are headed to Santa Rosa to be office people in charge of transfers, new missionaries, and I think apartments.

Well, that is a few more coming tomorrow.
We managed to get through the teaching this morning without my making a total fool of myself (close but not total) only one more day of this and then I can enjoy the rest of the time here.   We are all tired.  Everybody talks about how tired they are.  Nobody stays around at night after dinner it is home to bed!

Love you all, Thanks so much for the comments, it is nice to know you all care about us.

Good guess but he is actually to the left of the picture. I didn't realized that we had taken the picture too far to the left for him to be seen. There is a space just before the 1st Presidency on the left side. That is the missing apostle.
